Materials

Most modern memorials are made from granite. Granite is extremely hard wearing and polishes to a beautiful finish. If preferred it can have a honed finish (a type of smooth, unpolished egg shell finish) or even a rough hewn pitched finish. It is available in many different colours and lends itself perfectly to very intricate sandblasting and finely etched design work.

Some clients (or even local regulations) may insist on a softer stone such as Marble (usually off white with blue/grey veining), Nabrasina (a light fawn lime stone) or York stone (usually a honey/brown colour). You will see examples of these in the Evesham Collection brochure. However, be aware that many of them are porous and relatively soft, which can encourage their surface to break down over a period of time and green lichen or moss to take hold which further degrades the appearance of the memorial.

Most of the materials and colours within our Evesham Collection can be intermixed to provide an almost limitless range of memorials to our clients.

Please bear in mind that the marble, stone and granites we use are all natural materials and are therefore subject to slight natural variations in colour and shading from the pictures shown in our Evesham Collection on-line brochure.

Other types of stone may be availale but possblly not generally used to produce a memorial. If a customer specifies a particular material not mentioned in our normal range or shown in our Eversham collection please contact us and we wil lbe pleased to advise on its suitablity and/or availability.
